Tallinn Celebrates Chamber Music this September

The breathtaking capital of Estonia, Tallinn, will be hosting the 7th edition of the Chamber Music Festival this Fall, from 11-25 September 2011 at Tallinn Town Hall, Hopner House, St John’s Church and St Michael’s Swedish church. The festival this year is part of the official programme of Tallinn 2011 – European Capital of Culture, however its tradition can be traced back to 2005, when its first edition was received with vivid enthusiasm by both public and participants.

This year, the 7th Tallinn Chamber Music Festival programme includes 13 concerts offering – for the first time – chamber opera, an impressive selection from leading Estonian musicians and outstanding performances from guest artists. Here are a few highlights from the programme: F. Liszt 200 presented by the Belgian embassy at the Hopneri maja saal; Baroque opera – Purcell’s ‘Dido & Aeneas’ – at Jaani kirik; Artimus ensemble piano trio at Tallinna Raekoda; and Concerto di Belcanto at Tallinna Raekoda as well.

The complete programme of the festival is available online at Planet of Talent, as well as on Facebook events.

The accommodation partner of the 2011 edition of the Chamber Music Festival is Sokos Hotel Viru, which is offering Festival packages with hotel accommodation, starting at 37 EUR per person in a double room, and 64 EUR per person in a single room. Sokos Hotel Viru is located in Tallinn’s Old Town neighborhood, close to Old City Gates, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and Tallinn Cathedral.
