AARP Travel Study Reveals “Baby Boomers'” Plans

New research from AARP  Travel tells us celebration vacations are en vogue for some 76 million baby boomers bent onjoying and annotating milestones like; anniversaries, birthdays, family reunions and weddings.
The AARP research shows  78 percent of people 45+ intend taking a “Celebration Vacation” within the coming two years. Anniversaries were indicated as the number one reason to travel. An overwhelming number of  “Boomers” say travel wins out over any other form of celebration including buying jewelry or purchasing other big ticket items.  Some highlights of this study are:
  • U.S. destinations are most popular –  Las Vegas leads, followed by Disney, Los Angeles, New York and New Orleans
  • Tropical Celebration Vacations include the Caribbean, Hawaii and Puerto Rico
  • Boomers leave the kids at home for Celebration Vacations
  • Budget and where to go are Celebration Vacation challenges Boomer face

A new AARP Travel website (http://travel.aarp.org) targets the “where” of solving for Boomers with tools like Trip Finder to build custom itineraries and the Map Explorer to get a detailed street-level interactive map of attractions, hotels and more. AARP Travel Ambassador Samantha Brown, explains more in this new video (below too)
