On Mallorca all this month, one of Spain’s most prolific artists, Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923), is the subject of an exhibition via
“la Caixa” Foundation.

Sorolla, who painted more than 2,200 works, was an Impressionist stylist who’s favorite subject was the sea. The artist loved the spectrum of colors of the ocean, and the special light characteristics that seem to only emanate from its play on the water. The exhibition in Mallorca, which runs through February, reveals many of the artists most famous works on loan from the Sorolla Museum in Madrid.
The exhibition features 80 works, mostly on canvas, that Sorolla painted notes from nature upon. The exhibition, which includes some of Sorolla’s personal items, is being organized by the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
