Slovakia’s Winter Food Festival Tempts Travelers

The top restaurants in Slovakia, offer their best to local customers and visitors including traditional family recipes.

The Winter Food Festival takes place this January 15 and February 15, showing off the top restaurants in Slovakia’s guide, Gurmán na Slovensku ( Gourmet in Slovakia). The festival presents restaurateur talents in atmosphere, professionalism, and of course, the extraordinary food of the country.

Over 30 restaurants  partake in the Winter Food Festival. The Chef at each of the restaurants will prepare three types of meals, using one or all of them, to serve to tasters. The chefs prepare the three types of dishes according to, their specialty, the traditional recipes, and the region’s best from whence each chef comes. For the region’s best category, each dish is prepared using spices and methods from that particular region of Slovakia.

Festival organizers have set up 4 routes, the small Carpathian, Ponitrie (Nitra region), and Gourmet castles. Two of these routes will whisk visitors to restaurants in Bratislava, where visitors will sample these new culinary delights, and meet the chefs who created them.

The Food Fest is a big deal for Slovakia’s  gastronomy. Here,  the best cooks, managers, and Gurmán winners all join in the festivities . The list of these extraordinary hospitality specialists include; Jaroslav Zidek (Restaurant Albrech), Marián Filo from Chateau Cerenany, Peter Skripko (Restaurant Camelot Kosice), Luboslav Blaho (Restaurant Fou Zoo),  and Thomas Vysvader (Sommelier of the Hotel Kempinski River park).

A Slovakian masterpiece, this year’s Winter Food Fest treats visitors to new and  exquisite tastes, at exquisite prices, and in doing so, helps promote regional development and tourism in Slovakia.
