SETE 2018 Conference to Focus on Digital and Destination Management

“Tourism in Transition,” or #someTHINKdifferent,” is the theme of the upcoming SETE conference in Athens. The conference, organized in cooperation with TOPOSOPHY and entertainment company weareJARVIS, will host over 500 tourism professionals.

Scheduled to take place on October 16 at the Hilton Athens Hotel, the conference will present technologies, city branding, destination management, and communication strategy as the focus topics to be discussed. The 2018 Conference on Tourism and Development of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), scheduled to take place on October 16 at the Hilton Athens Hotel.

This year the conference will be conducted on two stages. The main stage, which will host keynote talks, fireside chats and panel discussions, while the second stage that will feature interactive masterclasses. SETE has invited tourism experts from abroad, along with representatives of Greek startups to share their latest achievements. SETE President Yiannis Retsos offered this: 

“In Greece we are seeing technological startups doing business in the broader sector of tourism, some offer new experiences and new ways of recreation to travelers and others offer solutions to professionals in the industry. At the same time, and in other areas, the new generation of tourism businesses are looking for new tools and ways to boost and develop the family business and upgrade the tourism product on offer.”

The forum will open with keynote speeches by Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and SETE President Retsos. Other key speakers at this year’s event include Paul Papadimitriou, founder of Intelligence; Iain McDonald, who is creative director of Quartz for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and Martin Boisen, co-founder and vice-president of The International Place Branding Association.
