Serbia Adopts “EcoDots – Europe Green Travel”

Serbia has now become the first country in eastern Europe to adopt “EcoDots – Europe Green Travel”, an international green initiative aimed at connecting tourists and the hospitality industry. From hospitality sector professionals to local communities, the initiative promotes sustainable travel across Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia and Serbia.

The coordinator EcoDots is non-governmental organization Le Citta Invisibili from Italy, who will partner with Serbian counterparts in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and the Center for Research and Development Projects EcoDev.

EcoDots adds to the ViaggiVerdi network website put in place to promote eco-friendly tourism in Italy. The European web platform is now capable of acting as a catalyst for a community of eco accommodations, tours operators, itineraries and local communities sharing. This PDF explains more, but here are the basic goals:

  1. build an innovative network of sustainable accommodations and “green” itineraries in the countries of Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia and Serbia.
  2. Promote the demand of sustainable tourism in Europe, leveraging an intelligent interactive system, committed people, natural resources, quality accommodations, local and transnational itineraries.
  3. Involve small green hotels, eco B&Bs, bio farmhouses and tours operators sharing an eco-tourism vision, in order to enhance their visibility on the market and transfer good practices.
