Scuba Diving in Croatia

One of the most popular destinations for scuba diving enthusiasts of all experience levels is the beautiful Adriatic Sea off of the coast of Croatia.  Many experienced divers consider it to be the perfect place for scuba diving especially if you are equipped with an underwater camera.  The water in Croatia is a deep, dark tropical blue, the way the sea should look and when you go scuba diving in Croatia, you will be in for an adventure you won’t forget.

Dive from Korcula

Korcula, is one of the largest and most beautiful island that Croatia has to offer, and it is perfect for diving thanks to its jagged coastline that spans 112 miles.  Only recently has this paradise been revealed to scuba divers seeking adventure diving in Croatia. There are many different sponges almost everywhere you look, as well as large branches of red coral.  There are also many caves to explore when you are diving in the bay.  One cave is called Blue Hole and is only 9 metres below the surface when you enter into a large, deep chamber.

Plenty of Shipwrecks to Choose From

If you would be wondering where to scuba dive in Croatia and you like diving shipwrecks, then you won’t want to miss the amazing wreck diving in Croatia and the Adriatic Sea has to offer you.  One of the most famous wrecks is the wreck of the Baron Gautch, which was constructed in 1908 and sunk in 1914.  Since that time, many sponges, coral and schools of fish have made homes in this majestic shipwreck, and there is gorgeous algae all over it.  There are two decks for you to explore, the first is the upper deck located at 28 metres and the second is lower at 42 metres.  This wreck, while beautiful and exciting is not for beginners though.

If you are looking for a nice place to explore when you are on a scuba vacation in Croatia that is ideal for less experienced divers, then the Margarina Reef is just the place you are looking for.  This beautiful reef is nestled in shallow waters, only 5 metres down until you reach the middle area, where there is a canyon that will drop down to 17 metres and has an amazing wreck at the bottom.  There is a lot you can see and explore here.

Another beautiful spot that should be on your list to check out when you are diving in Croatia is Premuda Island, which is very sparsely populated and famous for its tremendous “underwater cathedral” that is a serious of caves and holes under the sea that give the resemblance of passing by magnificent artisan crafted stained-glass windows as you swim through when the sunlight is passing through them.  If you are a more experienced diver, there is a lot more that you can get from this site since there is a great wreck that lies at roughly 67 metres for you to explore.

As you can see, when you do diving in Croatia, you are in store for a world class diving experience.
