Sabre and Azerbaijan Airlines pen new deal

Travel agents in Azerbaijan now get the benefit of more efficient booking Azerbaijan Airlines via the Sabre global distribution system.

Azerbaijan’s flag carrier has been a customer of Sabre for some time now, but under this new regime the airline makes its content available to agents in Azerbaijan who use Sabre. Natig Nabiyev, Director Business Development, at Sabre in Azerbaijan, had this to add about the new agreement:

“This is great news for local travel agents, who can now use Sabre’s travel marketplace to efficiently shop, book and manage all travel needs locally and internationally. There’s been a lot of travel agency interest in our technology since we opened an office here earlier this year, and the addition of local Azerbaijan content strengthens our unique offering.  We look forward to partnering with the industry, and driving growth and success for all our customers.”

Sabre’s global reach helps agents and service providers like Azerbailan Airlines optimize revenue, and especially across emerging routes like the Baku to New York one twice weekly. According to the news from Sabre, their travel marketplace plays an important role in facilitating the marketing and sale of ancillaries, airfares, hotel rooms, rental cars, rail tickets and other types of travel as well.

All in all, the travel game today is all about ancillary revenues like premium offerings and packages, etc. For years now the price competition in between airlines in particular, has empowered outside the box thinking where “add on” sales are concerned. This is one big area where Sabre excels.

Azerbaijan Airlines joins more than 400 global carriers who participate in Sabre’s travel marketplace to market and sell their fares and inventory.
