Remote Year Takes You Places

Remote Year brings together communities of location-independent professionals to spend a year working, traveling and exploring 12 cities around the world.

Remote Year is an opportunity for young minds to discover the world in a different way.

With Remote Year you can live and work in a new city every month. They have an interesting program that takes you to different cities in different countries. You can apply for it online and wait to see if you are accepted. It is not a paid-to-travel concept: the monthly fee to partake in their program is $2,000 per month per person, with 20% discount for couples. Remote Year is not currently equipped to accommodate pets or children.

For a better understanding of the concept, you will have to see their FAQ, where the business defines its purpose.

Remote Year brings together 50-80 inspiring professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and adventurers to see the world as they never have before during an unforgettable year of personal and professional growth. Participants (called “Remotes”) live and work in a different city around the globe each month.

Remote Year cities include Lima (Peru), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Marrakesh (Morocco), Prague (Czech Republic), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Budapest (Hungary), Bangkok (Thailand), Córdoba (Argentina), Hanoi (Vietnam), Medellín (Colombia), Split (Croatia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Bogotá (Colombia), Belgrade (Serbia), Lisbon (Portugal), Valencia (Spain), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Cape Town (South Africa), Mexico City (Mexico), Santiago (Chile), and Kyoto (Japan).

They already have several “Remotes” from different countries who enjoy the perks of working remotely. Most of them, like entrepreneur Eddie Contento, speak about the program in vivid terms:

Back in Jersey, I thought I was happy; I thought I was motivated. After just one week on Remote Year I thought, ‘How the hell haven’t I done this sooner? This is amazing.’ I can’t imagine going back to that life. I’m the happiest and most inspired I’ve ever been in my life.”

Remote Year is a very interesting business concept. If you cannot afford the program, maybe a job with them is more up your alley?
