Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is headed to his hometown of Chania for a family vacation. The family will make a mini-vacation outside Crete’s most picturesque town before heading to the Holy Island of Tinos on August 15 for Dekapendavgousto.

Mr. Mitsotakis, his wife Mareva and their three children Sophia, Constantine and Daphne often take holidays Chania and particularly like the area of Marathi, which is a seaside town with some of the best beaches, taverns, and activities for families. The Greek PM was born in Athens but his father and his ancestors come from Crete.

Marathi is located 17km east of Chania and 5km east of the Creta Naval Base in Souda Bay. There are two beautiful beaches with fine sand and shallow calm water, ideal for children.

The island of Tinos is another one of the PM’s favourite islands, which he visited many times with his parents during his childhood and the icon of Agios Constantinos and Agia Eleni was donated to ‘Our Lady of Tinos’ church by Mitsotakis’ parents.

A Harvard Business School  MBA graduate, Prime Minister Mitsotakis is scheduled to travel to Paris for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron after this short break.
