Prague Food Festival Opens Tomorrow at the Prague Castle

Good news for foodies visiting the Czech Republic this week: tomorrow at noon, at the Prague Castle, in the Royal Garden, the Prague Food Festival will open its doors, welcoming gourmands from all over the world with a varied programme and all kinds of goodies. You can still buy tickets for the festival, however, hurry up, as the pre-sale ends today.

A three-day celebration of food, lasting from 27th to 29th May, the festival includes cooking shows, beer and food pairing classes, a bartending school, and wine tasting. The festivities take place under the open sky, in the Royal Garden, the lush oasis of green of the Prague Castle, where a selection of the best chefs (like Jiri Stift, Roman Paulus, and Ricardo Lusque) and beverage producers in the country will display their foods and drinks. You have the unique chance to sample award winning cuisine, with local, traditional specialties, and also more exotic creations, inspired by the international cuisine.

You can choose from Czech, French, Belgian, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese cuisine. A Chinese vegetarian restaurant is also participating this year, for the first time in the history of the festival. Among the participating restaurants you will find names such as Phenix, Radisson Blu hotel, Alcron’s La Rotonde, Art Nouveau, Mandarin Oriental hotel, Essensia, Kampa Group, and many others. Beer tasting will be handled by Pilsner Urquell, for the fifth year general partner sponsor of the festival.

Children enjoy their own special programme, titled “Taste the World” that will be presented at the children’s corner. The organizers considered all the visitors’ needs in this program: babysitting, games, songs, and lots of fun. Children receive gifts, wear the original Prague Food Festival crown, eat popcorn and other delicacies.

Admission costs 400 CZK, including entrance fee and a 250 CZK pack of 10 Grands for basic tasting. Entrance is free for children up to 6 years of age. In addition to the festival, visitors may visit free of charge the unique exhibition “Porcelain and Prague Castle” exhibition.
