Prague: A Favorite British Airways Christmas Destination in 2011

What do Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Paris and Zurich have in common? This year, all these destinations are Christmas market favorites for British Airways. The UK carrier has recently revealed them as top Christmas Market city-breaks for the entire family to enjoy.

British Airways flights to Prague are expected to increase in popularity during the holiday season. The city was selected as one of British Airway’s top destinations for Christmas time city-breaks for the popular Christmas markets that run daily in the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. The markets offer unparalleled opportunities for tourists to sample authentic local cuisine, as well as to purchase traditional Czech handicrafts.

The Christmas Market in the Old Town Square opened last Friday, and it will last long past Christmas. Aside traditional crafts, foods, caroling and wonderland lights, the market will also feature entertainment for young and old. Numerous children activities can be enjoyed every day: workshops where children learn how to make Christmas decorations and masks are opened next to the Bethlehem scene; and puppet theater representations take place at 17:00 hours daily. Weekends welcome children with puppet fairy-tale theater and more.

One of the flagship events for children (an not only) at the market is Mikulas Day – the local celebration of St. Nicholas – when St. Nicholas, an Angel and the Devil will visit the Old Town Square at dusk.
