World Pokémon Go Tournament Debutes in Warsaw

Pokémon Go is quite a craze, with fans all over the world.  Warsaw, the Capital city of Poland, will soon host the first ever world tournament aimed to bring together players to compete for the chance to be admitted and to study at Vistula University. While the tournament is aimed at high-school players, there’s really no age limit.

Warsaw is one of the most exciting Pokémon Go destinations in the world, with more spots marked on the map than what you would find in cities like Berlin and Lisbon, for example. The game is a hit in the country, with millions playing it every day.

The tournament will take place Sunday, July 31, 2016, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, at the Academy of Finance and Business Vistula, a prestigious high education school, which ranks among the top 10 top private universities in Poland. Students here can choose among fifteen fields of study, including seven taught in English.

Prizes for the winners of the Pokémon Go tournament

The winner of the tournament will be free to choose one of these fields of study, while the winners of the 2nd and 3rd placed will receive a discount for one semester – 50% and 25% respectively.

Pokémon Go is a free-to-play location-based, augmented reality game for iOS and Android devices. Players use the smart device’s GPS and camera to capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, who appear on the screen as if they were in the same real-world location as the player. There are over Pokémon Go locations in Warsaw to date, with new ones added every day.

Pokémon Go tours in Warsaw

For those who cannot attend the tournament on Sunday, Warsaw still offers opportunities to enjoy fun-filled Pokémon Go-themed activities, including guided tours. On Sunday 7, 2016, Pokémon Go enthusiasts can join Warsaw Social and their guests in a free tour that aims to just bring people together to enjoy the city of Warsaw. The tour starts at Kinoteka at Palace of Culture and Science.
