Oinokritika Wine Exhibition 2019 Welcomes P.G.O. Santorini

Coming to Chania Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st, the Oinokritika Wine Exhibition is a Pancretan cultural event showcasing Crete’s finest wineries and products. This year the festival organizers welcome, for the first time, wineries from outside P.G.O. Crete to the Center of Mediterranean Architecture in Chania.

The Oinokritika Wine Exhibition was the first organized exhibition of Cretan wine back in 2007, as well as being the first contact for Cretan wineries to participate in other wine exhibitions. The organization has led the quest to inform both consumers and professionals in a continuous search for high-quality wines in Crete.

This year’s event will shine the spotlight on the 2 wine networks of Crete as well as independent wine producers from across the island. This iteration of Crete’s premier wine festival will see P.G.O. Santorini invited to take part with the amazing Assyrtiko wines.

The Oinokritika Club has also encouraged and assisted Cretan wineries in adopting a more careful and high-specification viticulture, protecting, in that way, the quality of the productions from the primary sector. The organization revolves around fostering a better understanding of the relationship in between product and region of wine by using the term of “terroir” as a tool of explaining the uniqueness of Crete and of each producer.
