Nikos Kazantzakis Museum Opens Special Events

Nikos Kazantzakis Museum

Starting from today in the village of Myrtia on Crete, the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum begins a series of special events through July 16th focused on the famous Greek writer’s impressions of England.

One of the world’s favored authors, Kazantzakis is most remembered for his “Passion of the Christ” and the timeless “Zorba the Greek”. These special events reflect on the author’s 1939 visit to England, and his admiration for the “fundamental values” of the people there. Kazantzakis recalled the Englanders as a people of “few words”, and as beings of great humanity and action.

Visitors to the museum will also be able to enjoy the permanent exhibition there dedicated to Nikos Kazantzakis’ work and life. Founded back in 1983, the museum now presents the permanent exhibition that is an experience enhanced with interactive audiovisual exhibits and wireless audio guides. The new exhibition was inaugurated on the 3rd of July 2010.

The five-day series of events include readings, exhibitions, performances, music shows and activities for children. Readers interested in the museum or the work of Kazantzakis should visit the website here.
