Montenegro Hopes To Become Golfer’s Paradise

Montenegro’s government is looking to capitalize on its position as one of the world’s fastest growing tourist destinations, with the development of its first PGA Tour-standard golf course near the resort city of Kotor.

Confirmation of what officials hope will become Montenegro’s latest tourist magnet was announced earlier this month, when the contract to develop the golf course was awarded to Dutch firm LPGD for an estimated €181 million. Developers plan to build the course next door to the exclusive Sea Breeze resort, located in Kavac, just a short drive away from the country’s luxurious marina at Porto Montenegro.

Officials added that golfers can expect to tee off from the course in two years time, when the course opens for business.

The new golf course will no doubt go a long way towards boosting the popularity of the exclusive Sea Breeze resort, Montenegro’s newest and most luxurious holiday destination. The Sea Breeze development is home to fifty lavishly-designed seafront villas featuring a traditional Dalmatian architectural style.

John Kennedy, Developer of the Sea Breeze resort, admitted as much when he welcomed the news of the golf course:

“This is a major development in the leisure profile of Montenegro. It is not just the first golf course on the eastern side of the Adriatic, but it’s a facility that will change the profile of the Kavac and Tivat areas forever.”

“For Sea Breeze, the first luxury villas on the market in the golf zone, it means a massive upside in terms of both facility and letting potential for our buyers. They will benefit from being the first completed properties in the zone and from 181 million Euros of someone else’s money pouring into their direct environment and adding value as a result. We predict that PGA golf on the door-step will now increase rental-yield and volume as well as adding significantly to capital gain potential”.

Montenegro was recently highlighted by the World Travel and Tourism Council as one of the world’s up-and-coming tourist destinations – with the organization predicting that in the next ten years Montenegro’s tourism sector could outperform any other destination in the world, with a projected growth rate of 16.4% per year.
