On the morning of February 13, 2025, Johann Wolfgang Williams, a 21-year-old German national, disappeared from the Xyloskalo area near the entrance to the Samaria Gorge in Chania, Crete. Witnesses confirmed he parked his vehicle in an outdoor lot close to the National Park’s entrance before heading toward the gorge’s entry point. However, his current location remains unknown.

The organization “The Smile of the Child” was informed of Johann’s disappearance on February 17, 2025. At the family’s request, his information has been publicly shared due to concerns that his life may be in danger.
