Accor Hotels’ First MGallery in Downtown Doha

Accor Group, the world’s leading hotel operator with some 4400 plus hotels in 90 countries, has just announced a deal with Qatar’s Msheireb Hospitality for operating the Msheireb Downtown Doha project., an Accor Hotels MGallery hotel in the city’s prime business district. This luxury boutique offering expands upon traditional Qatari hospitality with a truly original thematic scheduled to open in 2015.

According to the news the new project is currently in the design phase. Located across from the Souq Waqif, and very near the airport, the new hotel’s 215 rooms will overlook the wonderful Mshereib District. An exclusive spa, superb meeting facilities, not to mention all original cafes and restaurants, terraces, and an outdoor pool, compliment what should be a characteristically successful Accor managed property. Each MGallery hotel tells a different story aside the obvious one of uncompromising luxury exhibited toward guests. The story for downtown Doha visitors will be about a refuge for those doing business and pleasure in a redefined Qatar masterpiece. The city, ad-dawha, or “the big tree” is new by many standards, having been founded as early as 1825.

The wider scope of this announcement points toward the rejuvenation of downtown Doha, and the award winning efforts of the Msheireb Downtown Doha project. Just the architectural vision of the project, not even considering the economic and modernization aspects, has drawn widespread attention to this effort. Eng. Al Mohannadi was quoted on MENA Business News Network:

“Our aim is to set the benchmark for sustainable, transformational and culturally sensitive developments, and EXPO REAL was the perfect platform to prove, once again, how committed Qatar is to building a better future for all.”

Accor Hotels, the arm of Accor Group aimed at managing such properties, has over a dozen world renown brands under its umbrella including; Novotel, MGallery, Pullman, Mercure, Ibis, and Orbis, to name a handful. Accor Group, headed by CEO Denis Hennequin,  is expanding at an almost breakneck clip into markets across the globe with interests including; Russia, Singapore, China and the rest of Asia (note MGallery Indonesia image below), as well as Latin America. And the French hoteliers’ announcement here clearly supports their efforts in the Middle East.
