According to the BBC, the hotel rooms, which were first reserved back in 2005 to accommodate Olympics officials and members of the media, are no longer required. As a result of LOCOG’s Januray 29th announcement, it means that over 120,000 extra hotel room nights in more than 200 London hotels will now be available for visitors to the capital this summer. The newly available rooms cover the full scope of price ranges, from budget hotels to luxury five-star rooms.
Those looking to take advantage of the new room availability can book online through two new London hotel booking portals, LondonTown.com and HotelMap.com/London, which are integrated with all of the hotels involved. Alternatively, it’s possible to make a reservation by telephone through the London Hotel Booking Line (Tel: 020 737 4370).
LondonTown.com, which claims to be the number one internet site for London for hotels, sightseeing tours, events and ticket information, are also offering their guests the added bonus of a unique “London Experiences” welcome pack when they book their accommodation directly through the website.
To check the availability of hotel rooms during the London Olympics, interested persons can check the London Olympics HotelMap, which displays not just room availability but also the main venues for Olympic events, together with transportation routes and key bus and underground stations.
Note that the new room vacancies are not currently available, and so interested persons should be sure to check both LondonTown.com and HotelMap.com/London over the next couple of weeks so that they can take advantage of the offer at the first opportunity.
