Lithuania’s UK Ambassador Spearheads UK Co-Op Plans

Earlier this week Lithuanian Ambassodor to the UK Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė met with David Curtis-Brignell of the Tourism Society there to discuss joint tourism promotion between the nations. With Lithuania being at the forefront where Presidency of the EU Council is concerned later this year, it’s apparent many European nations will want to re-discover Lithuania.

Lithuania, almost at the exact center of Europe geographically, is also a cultural center and resort destination of some repute as well. Aside the historic value visitors will find places such as the health destinations; Palanga, Smiltyne, and many others. And the so-called ‘Amber Route’ of traveler interest, is a legendary discovery most outside the Baltic states have seldom heard of. This report via the Baltic Course tells more of the Ambassador’s visit to the UK.

In other international moves by Lithuania, President Dalia Grybauskaitė took part in an inaugural meeting of the American-Lithuanian Business Council, the first such organization to promote business between the two nations. Vilnius and Lithuania as a whole show an ever increasing role where businesses migrating to the EU are concerned. From security and bio-metrics to new logistics and other infrastructure firms, Lithuania’s business climate and location are two key factors driving not only tourism, but growth in other sectors there too.
