July 2019 Cyprus Arrivals Beat All Past Tourism Records

A recent Passengers Survey of the Statistical Service of Cyprus shows arrivals of tourists in Cyprus reached 550,971 for July 2019 or an increase of 2.1% year on year. July 2019 had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus in any specific month.

In addition, from January – July 2019 arrivals of tourists totaled over 2.1 million, which was a slight decrease over 2018 figures for the same period. A closer analysis in the same survey revealed tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom increased by 5.4% in July 2019 compared to July 2018.

Tourist arrivals from Israel skyrocketed with an increase of 42.0% at the same time Russian tourism flows dropped by 4.8%. Swedish tourists declined by 9.3% according to the survey.

United Kingdom tourists were the biggest group of visitors claiming 33.4% of bookings. Meanwhile, arrivals from Russia comprise 21.0% of total arrivals, followed by Israel 8.5% and then Sweden at 4.3%. Cyprus also welcomed more than 13,000 Germans and  Norwegians during July.                                                      

According to the figures, 87.0% of tourists were on holidays, while 10.4% traveled to visit friends and relatives, with 2.6% on the island for business.
