Heraklion Welcomes Pella for Three Days of Greek Food, Wine and Culture

Pella brings its wines, cheeses, traditional dishes, and sweets to Heraklion’s Agios Titos Square for a three-day tourism showcase on October 9–11.

Heraklion is hosting a three-day showcase of Pella’s tourism, gastronomy, and cultural heritage, bringing the northern Greek region’s local products and traditions to Agios Titos Square from October 9 to 11.

The event, titled “Welcome to Pella,” aims to introduce visitors and residents to the destinations, food producers, and cultural identity of Pella in Central Macedonia. Its program highlights local wine and cheese, traditional savory dishes, sweets, and preserves, offering a taste of a region with strong historical ties to Crete.

Pella Brings Its Food Traditions to Central Heraklion

The showcase is organized around three themes: Pella’s wine and cheesemaking, its traditional Macedonian buffet of hot dishes and meze, and a selection of sweets, jams, compotes, and tsoureki, the enriched sweet bread popular across Greece.

The display gives Heraklion residents and visitors a chance to discover Pella through its regional products and culinary traditions, while promoting the area as a destination in its own right.

The event takes place in Agios Titos Square, in the heart of Heraklion, making it easy for visitors exploring the city center to reach.

Heraklion Deputy Mayor for Administration and Tourism Giorgos Agrimanakis welcomed a delegation from Pella at the Loggia on Friday, October 9.

The delegation included Pella Deputy Regional Governor Iordanis Tzam tzis, representatives of the municipalities of Almopia, Pella and Skydra, and Pella Chamber Director Dimitris Giogas.

Agrimanakis welcomed the initiative and described cooperation between regions as a strategic choice for Heraklion. He also pointed to the changes expected in Crete’s tourism landscape when the new airport at Kastelli is completed and begins operating.

Tzam tzis thanked Heraklion’s municipal authorities for their welcome and cooperation, saying the visit aimed to create opportunities for communication and collaboration between the two regions. He also highlighted the longstanding historical connections between Macedonia and Crete.

The meeting concluded with the exchange of customary gifts.
