The performances of “Hotel Paradise” scheduled for September 26 and 27 have been moved from the Manos Hadjidakis Garden Theatre to an indoor venue in Nea Alatsata. The rest of Heraklion’s weekend cultural program includes Cretan music and dance, a historical-literary evening and a charity event.

The performances have been moved indoors because of the expected adverse weather conditions, with organizers citing the safety and comfort of the audience.
The Amateur Theatre Group of the Spiritual-Youth Center of Eisodion tis Theotokou N. Alatsaton will perform the play at the Multipurpose Hall of the 20th and 56th Primary Schools of Heraklion, at Orfeos 3 pedestrian street in Nea Alatsata.

Saturday, September 26 — 9 p.m.
Sunday, September 27 — 9 p.m.
The new venue is about 20 meters uphill and opposite the Heraklion Tax Office (DOY).
So, no, you do not need to turn up at Manos Hadjidakis and hope the actors have somehow learned to perform in the rain.

The Cretan dance school Kritores will present an evening of traditional Cretan dancing, accompanied by Giorgos Parasyris’s band and the Triteknon Choir, with narration by Kiki Argyriou.
The event is also raising support for SOS Children’s Villages. Visitors can make voluntary donations or bring long-life food, essential supplies, and other useful items.
Heraklion’s 19th-Century Population Comes to the Stage
“The Populations of Heraklion in the 19th Century”

The literary, historical and musical presentation looks at the different population groups that lived in 19th-century Heraklion, including where they lived, the buildings and neighborhoods they used, their occupations and relationships, as well as periods of tension and conflict.
The evening will combine historical and literary references with music by the Erodios ensemble, directed by musician M. Kanakakis, along with historical images.
It is a rather different way to spend a Saturday night in Heraklion: less nightclub, more 19th-century population census with music.

Michalis Fragkiadakis in Concert

Michalis Fragkiadakis will bring an evening of Cretan music, songs and dance to the Bethlehem Gate.
He will be joined by Vangelis Kallergis and Chara Fragkiadaki on vocals and Nikos Doxastakis on drums.
The Kountouris Cretan Dance School will also take part, bringing traditional Cretan dancing to the performance.
