Through August 23, total passenger traffic reached 6.81 million—a 4.6% increase over last year—while international arrivals rose 5.1% to 2.88 million. The figures position 2026 to comfortably eclipse the historic milestone set in 2025, when the airport crossed the 10-million passenger threshold for the first time.
Growth has been reinforced by expanded domestic routes connecting Crete to destinations like Corfu, Naxos, Santorini, Paros, Mykonos, and Kalamata, alongside steady winter international flights. Strong passenger flows are expected to continue through mid-November.
