Hellenic Initiative to Honor George D. Behrakis & Others

The Hellenic Initiative (THI) will hold a second annual banquet, “Investing in the Future of Greece” to honor  George D. Behrakis, John Pappajohn, and Peter G. Peterson. The nonprofit’s mission, mobilizing investment for Greece, has scheduled the event for October 2nd in New York.

In response to the recent economic crisis in Greece, T’HI helps raise awareness and funds for renewed growth in the Greece economy. With notable  honorary patrons such as former President Bill Clinton (who’ll be in attendance), honoring these three influential Greek Americans who have contributed so much, promotes further philanthropy and Hellenism. Last year’s ceremony raised some $1.9 million, making the event one of the most successful fund-raising initiatives ever within the Greek-American community.

This global non-profit institution supports sustainable economic renewal for Greece. Founded by George Logothetis, Chairman and CEO of the Libra Group, Andrew Liveris, President, Chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, Muhtar Kent, Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, George David, Chairman of the Board of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company and George Stamas, Senior Partner at Kirkland and Ellis LLP., the Hellenic Initiative strives to make a difference in crisis relief to positively affect the 1 in 5 households in Greece living below the poverty level today. Not many people know, but nearly one half of all Greek people do not have health insurance at all.
