Harvest Time at Entre Cielos with the Andes Out Your Window

I was just speaking via Facebook IM with Cécile Adam, one of the owners of Mendoza,  Argentina luxury resort Entre Cielos, which we covered in this article last year. News today from there speaks of what Cécile says may be a record grape harvest for their wine operations, and the hotel being picked a favorite by Travel & Leisure recently.

For those unfamiliar with this part of Argentina, this region situated at the foot of the magnificent Andes is the finest wine region in Argentina, maybe in South America. It is with this focus on vineyards, and the countryside there, that Cécile Adam and her collaborators created a wonderfully unique boutique hotel experience.

The short version of what guests are exposed to is; a unearthly surprise at seeing western Argentina for the first time, and another unearthly welcome by the luxurious hotel and friendly staff. But on to today’s news, I’ll show you plenty of pictures to get you motivated. Speaking with Cecile, I wondered about the output of the harvest this season. She commented on how “the harvest this year is quite promising, some twenty harvesters will finish up Saturday.” The estimated total harvest and yields she gave us are:

  • 30,000 bottles for our Marantal Malbec 2013
  • Some 5000 bottles for our Gran Marantal Malbec 2013
  • An estimated 1000 bottles for a Marantal Rosé 2013

As time goes by now Entre Cielos gets more and more accolades, which is for a place somewhat remote, actually quite an amazing achievement. Travel & Leisure suggests the hotel as a favorite wine destination, TripAdvisor picks the hotel as a Traveler’s Choice Winner this year,  the Globe and Mail Savvy Traveler features the hotel, Best Boutique Hotels crowns Entre Cielos a World’s Best, and so on.

With a banner harvest going on, and the unique qualities of the Malbec grapes here is nothing short of legendary. Add in five star luxury everything including cuisine, and if you’re into exclusive hotels you know the drill here. From the spa (above top) to the very cool “loft” suite (image below) that overlooks the vineyards and the Andres, Entre Ceilos is special amid special. Can you tell I love Argentina?

The map below from the Entre Cielos website shows the reader where this marvelous place is. In case you’re on the road from Buenos Airs to say Santiago, Chile, Mendoza is a nice stopping off place. But the culture and fabulous people of this part of Argentina are something a bit harder to exhibit, as is the character and kindness Cécile and her helpers exhibit.

Look west of Buenos Aires and East of Santiago

The Beef Club & Wine House, the pool, horseback riding the vineyards, kicked back enjoying stellar service after all day exploring Mondoza, and a glass of wine at sunset, this is imagery I would share with you. Space and time permitting every travel site should show you every bit of such places. Alas, time and space constrain me, or I would. To explore more the wonderful place I speak of, intestigate yourself via the website of the hotel, their Facebook, or via the articles about the hotel I mentioned.

I hope the harvest goes well, and I hope you get a chance to visit Mendoza. Oh, you can call the hotel directly at +54 261 498 33 77 or mail them at hotel@entrecielos.com
