With the holidays fast approaching many people will be hitting the road headed to visit relatives or chosen seasonal destinations. And with the season comes the added stress of figuring out things like what to take, where to stay, and even what’s the best time to leave crowd the mind. Luckily the folks at Google are trying to solve for “X” again with a Google Maps feature.

Google’s Mapping Thanksgiving trends report can help folks through by mapping when is the best time to leave. Google Maps and Google News Lab have created a new tool to help you navigate around the busiest travel times using analysis of last year’s holiday rush. The tool gives insight into which times are best to be on or off the road, as well as the most interesting things to do and see along your path. The map below from Google gives us hints.

Using Google Maps data from 2017’s holiday season, Google lets you gain valuable insight for traveling this season. Google allows you to find information in the state and metropolitan area where you live or travel to. While no app has currently be deployed using these Google trends, we can imagine a flurry of them in the near future.

Mapping Thanksgiving is a collaboration between the Google News LabGoogle Maps, and Polygraph.
