GetThere.com Adds HTML5 Mobile Shop and Book Features

GetThere announced yesterday that it has added some new features to its GetThere Mobile service.  The new web interface is built using HTML5, giving mobile users an app-like experience without actually having to download an app.

With GetThere Mobile, mobile travel users can do the following:

  • access flight information, including departure and arrival times
  • call a travel agency with just one click
  • find hotels and book reservations, while limiting results to company parameters
  • view a map or list of available hotels
  • get detailed information about current trips and trips on hold

The mobile app is designed to give travelers more freedom while also saving money for corporations that no longer need agents and other middle men involved in the travel process.  The company profile and preferences settings allow corporations to set the acceptable and preferred parameters for employees so that when they search for hotels, for example, only those that fit the specifications are automatically displayed.

“Creating a robust mobile tool for business travelers is a priority for GetThere because we know how important mobile tools are for corporate travel managers,” said Suzanne Neufang, general manager of GetThere.

GetThere Mobile is part of the GetThere Travel Management system, which is a comprehensive travel booking and collaboration platform.  It includes Global Travel Content, GetThere Mobile, GetThere Ticket Manager, GetThere Demand management, GetThere Travel Portals, GetThere Green, and Traveler Security & Data Suite.

The online mobile web application works on most smartphones and mobile devices, including the iPhone, Android phones, and Blackberry.  For more information, you can download the GetThere Mobile data sheet (PDF) on the company’s website.
