Five Great Tiranë Stays

Albania is one of the most beautiful and interesting destinations in the world. The capital, Tiranë, allows visitors access not only to the business center and cultural hub of the country, but the marvelous surrounding countryside as well. We thought to take a look at Albania’s capital’s accommodations for those considering visiting.

Hotel Boutique Kotoni

Located right downtown, this upscale boutique hotels offers convenience to go with contemporary style. Family owned intermittently since 1938, the hotel is situated in a rationalist Italian building, what once housed the Minister of Foreign Affairs during the communistic era. Returned to the Kotoni family in 1991, the hotel has since been totally renovated.

The hotel bar

23 deluxe rooms spread out over four floors welcome guests to modern style, albeit somewhat Spartan unless you’re a business person. However, what the stylish rooms lack in puffy pillows, is more than made up for at the hotel’s classy restaurant. Organic cuisine built on local produce and typical Albania charm, affords a nice touch to an otherwise safe and classy hotel stay in the business district.

Prices range from 110 € to 180 € per room per night. For more information visit the link provided or call: (00) 355-4-2274-888 / 7

City Hotel Tirana

A TripAdvisor award winner for 2013, this central Tirana hotel is another family owned stay a few feet away from the main governmental, educational and cultural institutions of Albania. Here 15 elegant rooms make this the coziest hotel in Tirana, but one with a big value. What you might consider a budget hotel given the prices, is bumped up in stature by the fine restaurant and convenience of the local.

Theranda Hotel

Another four star hotel in the capital, this is actually one of our favorite Albania hotels. Situated around the corner from the Rogner Hotel, this elegant little stay is closer to the entertainment neighborhoods of Tirana, while being convenient to the business and governmental locations too. What makes this hotel stand out, besides the coziness of boutique tininess, is the staff and their attentiveness to guests. Oh, and for a four star stay, the rooms are cheap as dirt by comparison to competitors.

The colorful, pure Albanian tone of this hotel is just homey, period.

Price here range from about 40€ to just over 70€ per night. Plus you get plasma TV, a mini bar, individual controlled AC, key card, and room service from the bar etc. to go with your crispy pillow. The one down side is the hotel does not have the same classy restaurant some of the others in the range do. However, guests are in luck, just around the corner toward the Rogner Hotel is a wonderful restaurant Ristorante Vinoteca Miguel (below), which no doubt serves the best and widest variety of cuisines in the city. From sausages to homemade fresh pasta and Italian wonders, eating here will quickly make you forget the convenience of a hotel eatery.
