Eastern Europe is a part of Europe relatively un-explored by most British and American people – we tend to concentrate on the more well known destinations: France, Spain, Portugal, and Amsterdam, etc – and so unfortunately miss out on all the amazing locations and attractions that Eastern Europe has to offer.
A great way of exploring these wonderful locations is by taking a road trip! Road trips are so fun and they allow you to see multiple locations in one holiday. Below we’ve outlined some possible road trip routes and outlined the attractions you’ll see along the way!
Route 1
If you want to ease yourself into the idea of road trips and Eastern Europe then this is a great option for you. This little round-trip will let you enjoy two of the main cities in the beautiful Germany (if you plan to go around Christmas time, you’ll enjoy the beautiful German markets). You’ll also see the beautiful sights of Vienna, Munich and Krakow. If you’re fan of the film “Sound of music” this is a great option for you too – as you’ll be passing through quite a lot of stunning Austrian country-side, and the stunning cities too!
Route 2
With this option you’ll need to start by flying out to Moscow and renting your car. Then your road trip can begin! You’ll start in the beautiful Moscow and see the gorgeous architecture and palaces Russia has to offer, then you’ll work your way down through the beautiful Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Serbia, finishing in Croatia. This route is all about contrasts, the cold temperatures of Russia will be the complete opposite to the clear and beautiful oceans of Croatia – so you get the best of both worlds.
Route 3
This route is all about exploring the North East of Europe. With this one you can set of from the UK in your car (getting a ferry across to Holland) and then your adventure begins! You’ll travel through Germany, Poland and then up to Latvia. There are so many beautiful cities here to explore, all with stunning palaces, monuments and landscapes. After Latvia you could then go even further North towards Estonia and Helsinki in Finland (which you’ll need to access by another quick ferry crossing). If you’re short on time though, just head straight down to Belarus from Latvia!

Route number 3 looks the most interesting but has any one done it pulling a caravan? and know of cap sites?
I would miss Helsinki and carry on to Moldova and then on to Hungary
or possibly Belarus then Krakow, Prague etc.
