Dunyasha Market Opens in Moscow at Christmas

One of the many Christmas markets and fairs of the season, Dunyasha Market offers an opportunity for visitors to find unique Christmas gifts. This is particularly interesting for tourists looking for authentic crafts.

Dunyasha Market takes place at Centr Dizajna ArtPlay (Design Center ArtPlay) on December 23-25, 2016. While it may seem odd for tourists to find a Christmas market open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, keep in mind that Russians celebrate the Holy Birth Saturday, January 7, 2017, according to the Eastern Orthodox tradition, which follows the Julian calendar. While Christmas trees are decorated all over the city, for many Muscovites December 24 and 25 are just ordinary dates. The Dunyasha Market brings together over 200 designers and brands, with a variety of handmade goods, including jewelry, clothing, interior decor, souvenirs, ceramics, handmade toys, home furnishings, accessories, clothing, footwear, sweet treats, gourmet foods, and other surprises.

There will be several workshops and live demonstrations by artists and designers, Christmas workshops, and special appearances by Ded Moroz and the Snow Maidens. Participants can taste seasonal foods and warm themselves up with aromatic mulled wine, tea, or non-alcoholic Christmas punch. Dunyasha Market will also feature live concerts and other surprises for guests. To find what’s on, follow them on Facebook.

Besides Dunyasha Market, visitors and residents can also attend the ArtFlection Fair Central Telegraph on Str. Tverskaya 7, which takes place around the same time, on December 24-25. This is particularly interesting for fans of steampunk and alternative Victorian aesthetics for items like glasses, goggles, masks, watches, hats, and other accessories. Different Russian and international artists exhibit at ArtFlection as well, offering a plus of opportunities to find unique Christmas decorations, fashion, and souvenirs. Both markets have a photo area for connected guests who want to share their Moscow Christmas Fair experiences on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the popular Russian VKontakte.
