Summer camp. How many wonderful memories of Boy Scouts and YMCA campfires came to mind when I heard about Greek LOL Summer Camp. I have a Greek Reporter story by Ada Leivada to thank for showing us this wonderful learning experience. So, here goes on informing readers about this amazing Greek adventure for kids.
The Greek LOL Summer Camp is a language and social developmental program wrapped in a fun camp environment in an ideal place. Located in Sofiko, Greece, close to Korinthos, the camp lasts 13 days. The camp helps kids to perfect their Greek language skills while having fun at a wide range of camp activities. Three sessions allow kids from all over to interact with their contemporaries from all over the world. The 2020 Greek LOL Summer Camp sessions are:
- June 16 – June 28
- July 1 – July 13
- August 2 – August 14
Kids stay at a residential camp which is themed like a western ranch. Joined by other Greek campers of the same age and of the same gender. Parents of the kids can stay at nearby seaside village of Korfos if they so choose.
Camp goers take part in stimulating social, sport and cultural activities like horse-riding, archery, climbing, swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, table tennis, dance, theatre and many more.
The camp program includes two-hour group language lessons every day, one in the morning 9:30-10:30 and one in the afternoon 16:00-17:00. Students are placed in groups according to their level of Greek.
Greek LOL Camp is staffed by over 250 professionals, including teachers and camp counselors, dietary staff, and so forth.
The camp is an offshoot of Greek LOL Lessons Online learning company, which conducts virtual private and semi-private classrooms for learning Greek at every level.
