Dimitris Fragakis Named Secretary-General of GNTO

Dimitris Frangakis is the new Secretary-General of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). Minister of Tourism Harry Theocharis stressed the role of Mr. FRangakisā€™ role in welcoming the new secretary to the ministry role.

Mr. Theocharis wished the new GNTO head success in his duties, at the announcement. Dimitris Frangakis, who is 47 years old, was born in Chania, on Crete. The new tourism head holds a Masters Degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Athens and a BA in Philosophy from the Athens School of Philosophy.

Mr. Frangakis has served as a Scientific Advisor to the Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Ministry of Administrative Reform (2013-2014) as well as a Deputy Director-General of the Constantinos K. Mitsotakis Foundation (2000-2003) and a Research Associate at the Hellenic Parliament (2004-2013).

During 2014-2019 he served as the Secretary-General of the Municipality of Chania and in the 2019 national elections he was a candidate for MP in Chania.

The new secretary was also just made a member of the board of the GNTO, which is headed by President Angela Gerekou. Frangakis now bolsters a team put together by Mitsotakis to implement a 10-year program for Greek tourism.

He also maintains a tourism business and speaks fluent English and good Italian. He is married and has a son.
