Digi.travel Conference & Expo 2014: Meetup with Modern Hospitality

Coming early this Winter to Athens, this year’s Digi.travel conference promises keen focus for industry experts tuned to the trends and tech that will power hospitality in the year to come. Organized by the experts at Travel Media Applications, international speakers and attendees will converge on Greece’s capital to learn, brainstorm, and connect on travel business trends.

The 2014 contingent of the conference will also include an exhibition showcasing companies at the crux of digital communications, marketing, sales, and other e-tourism realm. Managing Director of Travel Media Applications, Theodore Koumelis, offered this about this year’s conference:

“Digital distribution channels (web, mobile devices, interactive TV, etc.) are of particular importance for the distribution of the tourism product and are evolving rapidly on a global level, making it essential for tourism professionals to monitor all developments.”

The conference, to be held at the Athens Metropolitan Expo between December 5th and 6th, is a high level summit to benefit enterprise tourism professionals. I spoked with earlier today about Panos Fotiadis, Sales & Marketing  Director for TMA, here’s his take on the meetup’s significance:

“This event looks at how the travel consumers are evolving in the way they research, communicate and purchase travel products. We’ll reveal how our understanding of these trends, and our strategies, can best position businesses to optimize profitability in today’s digital ecosystem.”

From our own experience at Pamil Visions Travel PR, we’ve worked with many of the industry’s leaders toward helping hoteliers and restauranteurs ramp up and meet the digital challenge. For Greece, and the whole of the southeast of Europe, the process has not been a fast one. Adaptation is often seen as an expensive luxury, when in fact meeting the guest on this or her own ground is imperative. This conference is an idea opportunity for Greek hoteliers to engage and interact with some of the industry’s best.
