Diageo ramps up travel retail arm with Barbara Bajorate appointment

UK multinational beverage company Diageo,  has just named Barbara Bajorate (at left) regional director for Europe in Travel Retail. The newly created role focuses on growth in the travel retail sector in Europe and in Russia.

A former  L’Oréal and Maxxium executive, Bajorat will lead the world’s largest producer of spirits to engage the travel sector for new business. Clearly the world’s travelers represent a huge targeted customer base, one that stretches from airlines passengers to hotels, restaurants, and even the retail places tourists buy spirits. It will be interesting to see what the former L’Oréal exec contributes to the Diageo growth effort. This join the dots research noted tells of a forward thinking company interested in learning the curve on customer experience.

The company owns a list of brands the world is familiar with including their Scotch whiskies;  Johnnie Walker, Buchanan’s, Cardhu, Justerini & Brooks (J&B), Bell’s, Black & White, White Horse, Logan, Caol Ila, Vat 69, Oban, Talisker, Lagavulin, Glen Ord, Glenkinchie, Dalwhinnie, Cragganmore, Clynelish, Singleton, Haig, Royal Lochnagar, Glen Elgin,Knockando,  and The Dimple Pinch. The company also produces Crown Royal, Guinness, Bailey’s, Smirnoff, and dozens of other noted brands.
