Destination Hungary: Balaton Sound Festival 2011

The romantic Balaton, with its world-renowned wines, and cozy tourist resorts, will host the fifth Heineken Sound Festival at Hungary’s fanciest beach, Zamárdi. The festival takes place July 7-10, 2011, and it is one of the biggest in Hungary, after the VOLT festival in Sopron.

The Heineken Balaton Sound Festival 2011 awaits the public with varied musical programmes on five major stages, including the Heineken Main Stage, Burn Arena, T-Mobile Terrace, OTP Bank Stage, and Mastercard Paypass Lounge.

Heineken Balaton Sound Festival is an international event, with participants from many European countries, as well as Canada and the USA. The list of performers this year includes names such as Armin Van Buuren, Luciano, Snoop Dogg, DJ Krush, Fedde le Grand, Josh Wink, Simian Mobile Disco, Karl Bartos, Seth Troxler, Big Boi of Outkast, Ricardo Villalobos and many others.

Those planning to attend the festival, may found it difficult to secure last minute accommodation in Zamárdi, but if you book now, you may find affordable hotels, starting at as little as €30 EURO. Alternatively, you can stay in Budapest, and attend the festival whenever you feel like, as Zamárdi is only 110 km from Budapest – within an hour on the M7 motorway. However, during the festival the road may be more crowded than usual, and parking challenging to find.

Tickets are generally affordable, and can still be purchased for 56€ per day pass, or 130€ for the entire festival.
