Fat Thursday in Krakow: 5 Places for Delicious Donuts

Featured: House of Donuts in the historic center is a great choice for Fat Thursday treats.

Krakow and Poland celebrate Fat Thursday today and as the custom demands it, everyone is munching donuts. If you happen to be in Krakow today, you will notice that most cafes and restaurants offer fluffy glazed treats to mark the last gluttonous indulgence before Lent. We introduce five places for delicious donuts that can be visited every day too.

House of Donuts

The House of Donuts has two shops in Krakow. One in the old center at Świętego Jana 2, and the second on Henryka Siemiradzkiego 25. Both shops offer delicious donuts, ice cream, and creative beverages. This is an American-style cafe, offering American-inspired treats. Besides donuts, they also have cakes and cookies, cake pops, and fresh coffee. Vegan and gluten-free products are also available for patrons with special dietary needs.

Cukiernia Michałek

Cukiernia Michałek has two shops too: on Krupnicza 6 and on Jakuba Bojki 4. This bakery specializes in Polish doughnuts – or packi. Their treats are famous: drop in for a dough confectionery filled with rose jam. They have a choice of pastries and cakes for every occasion too.

Gorące Pączki

Another great stop for delicious donuts is Gorące Pączki on Szewska 25. You will see many people waiting in line in front of their window to get a donut or a box of treats. The cafe serves drinks and coffee too. You can also drop in for ice cream and muffins.

Awiteks

Fat Thursday is not a day for counting calories. You can always drop by one of Awiteks‘s branches for warm, fragrant donuts too. They have many little shops all over the town. Just look for their green storefronts.

Cukiernia Starowicz

Last, but not least, Cukiernia Starowicz on Św. Wawrzyńca 32. They don’t have a strong focus on donuts, but they make some of the best in town. You will also be impressed by their cakes and pastries.
