In the news from easyJet, the air carrier is slated to carry out TUI flights from Berlin to Heraklion, Rhodes, and Tenerife in the Summer of 2017. The British low-cost airline also partnered with TUI for travel to Holland. Both companies share good and bad news edging into Q4 of 2016.

The two companies already cooperate since June of 2016, according to a TUI Netherlands announcement on selling packages to selected easyJet destinations. Meanwhile, reports of easyJet suffering over low-airfares dragging on does not bode well for the company. The airline’s shares have fallen substantially recently, prompting banks to caution the carrier.

As for TUI, the company’s bottom line has been bolstered by fliers wanting more exotic destinations, which has, in turn, increased the company’s bookings. Finally, news that TUI has invested in travel tech company peakwork, a software specialization outfit, shows flexibility at least.

Finally, easyJet passenger numbers for November show the number of flyers on the budget airline up 2.9%, at 4,947,060, from 4,807,922 in the same frame of 2015. Year on year passengers was up 5.9% overall as well. This followed news of new hires by the airline in November as well.

easyJet carries a rating of 7 of 10 at Skytrax, while TUI rates only 3.2 at Glassdoor.

  • Easy jet and TUI, or any other low cost carriers need to look at the Rodos TO Crete situation, there is such
a poor service, AND, no decent ferry on this route either between 2 major tourist destinations shame on the Greeks and their lack of initiative!
