Conrad Hotels & Resorts – Sleek & Provocative Rebrand

Marketing campaigns for hotels chains are not a new fad, nor is using sexy to sell ideas, but doing so intriguingly, this is a bit uncommon. In News from Conrad Hotels & Resorts this morning, their brand is on a global marketing binge that may see a new phrase coined, “chic and slinky sells,” rather than sex.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts elicited the help of world famous fashion photographer Anders Overgaard to create a heightened sense of individuality and imagery for their brand this time. Overgaard, for those not familiar, is one of the world’s most acclaimed photographers whose art has appeared in and/or on the covers of Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, and others. The hotel chain’s news branding campaign looks – well, the images speak a lot about this.

To honor their 25 years in business, Conrad Hotels & Resorts with Young & Rubicam’s creativeness – “The Luxury of Being Yourself”

John Vanderslice, global head of luxury and lifestyle brands for Hilton Worldwide“Conrad Hotels & Resorts, had this to say about the new campaign:

“Conrad Hotels & Resorts is uniquely positioned to offer our guests a world of style, service, and connection. With 25 years of experience in creating ‘Smart Luxury’ for our global guests, Conrad is capitalizing on the strength and vitality of its silver anniversary by debuting a totally refreshed brand campaign.”

This news release precedes a print campaign scheduled to hit newsstands next month. Anders Overgaard’s images will grace those printed publications as well, and from what we can see so far, transferring crisp sex appeal and intrigue will be a primary component of the campaign. Smart, stylish, well off, all the Hollywood any traveler could want, but a bit classier.
