New Congress Center is Being Built in Prague

Conceptual for the O2 Project

In the news from Prague, a new multifunctional congress and cultural Centre O2 Universum is being built in the Czech Republic capital. O2 Universum should serve as a modern center especially for organizing large international congresses and corporate events. Thanks to the possibility of linking the newly completed complex with existing O2 arena on all four planned floors, the O2 Universum will offer capacity up to 28,000 visitors.

The new complex has a total area of almost 50,000 square meters. The building will have 21 halls of different sizes at disposal in total capacity of 10,000 visitors with the largest hall with a capacity of up to 4,500 people. On every floor of the complex, there will be created 13 000 m2 for exhibitions and commercial use. The opening of the O2 Universum is scheduled for summer 2019. Roman Muška, Managing Director of the Prague Convention Bureau had this to add:

“The planned completion of the O2 Universum multifunctional cultural and congress center is excellent news for Prague. O2 Universum will increase the current capacity of the O2 arena with congress facilities with the capacity of up to 10,000 people to a total of 28,000 persons. Starting mid-2019,  the Czech metropolis will be able to welcome congresses and conferences with approximately 15,000 attendees, which has not yet been possible. Thanks to the location of O2 Universum, situated only 10 minutes from the city center and 30 minutes from Prague airport, delegates will be able to enjoy all the conveniences Prague offers. At the same time, we are honored that at the beginning of April this year, the O2 Universum decided to join the ranks of the Prague Convention Bureau membership. We look forward to introducing the new venue to the prospective clients not only from abroad.”

The new congress center O2 Universum was designed by ATIP company (architects Martin and Vladimír Vokatý). The design has been under development almost two years owing in part to the difficulty of reconstruction.
