Club Med has just announced a global expansion plan to introduce 15 new all-inclusive resorts by the end of 2020. The company news did not include all the particulars, but three new resorts were reported on. The company has updated members and the general public on news about these three coming resorts:

  • Club Med Cancún Yucatán – Cancún, Mexico (summer 2018): Set to open in July 2018, the Aguamarina area featuring accommodations and spaces dedicated to families will receive an expansion to introduce 60 new family rooms – 30 Family Club rooms and 30 Family Deluxe rooms – along with a new oceanfront pool.
  • Club Med Cefalù – Sicily, Italy (opening summer 2018): With favorable weather, lush vegetation and breathtaking panoramas of cliffs plunging into the pristine waters, the largest island in the Mediterranean is the perfect location to launch Club Med’s newest flagship resort for the Exclusive Collection: Club Med Cefalù. Located on the northern coast of Sicily, the resort will be the first full 5-Trident resort in Europe
  • Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda – Miches, Dominican (opening summer 2019): A preserved paradise located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic – will play host to the company’s newest endeavor, Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda. The all-inclusive resort will be the resort company’s first 5-Trident resort to open in the Americas, joining Club Med’s Exclusive Collection, a selection of the brand’s most exclusive properties around the world.

Xavier Mufraggi, CEO of Club Med North America had this to add:

“Reimagining the Club Med experience to cater to more affluent travelers in all corners of the globe has been exhilarating. We knew closing a number of our properties in order to invest in our upscale positioning and explore new locations was going to take time, but it’s thrilling to see our vision being realized and most importantly, both our new and loyal guests responding so
positively.”

The press release also included recent technology updates intended to increase the overall guest experience. The company has made vacation planning easier by providing travelers with an immersive dive into resorts via 360-degree virtual reality video tours. Also, the Club Med Resort App allows guests to access information about sports, dining and events as well as chat with other friends on property to make plans for spa appointments or what time to meet up for lunch. Guests can even watch live updates on property happenings on Facebook and Instagram and keep in touch following their stay. Club Med Sandpiper Bay was one of the first resorts worldwide to launch the use of digital bracelets in place of room keys with a digital chip to access guestrooms and pay for additional purchases; in 2017, Club Med will roll out this technology to select resorts.
