Sometimes it’s hard to find the right words to share Christmas joy, but Christmas quotes by famous people can inspire us.

Perhaps no other famous quote embodies so much of what we all should feel not only around Christmas time but day after day, then “We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle,” by Marilyn Monroe.

“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love,” said once American essayist Hamilton Wright Mabie.

This beautiful Christmas quote from Feodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky’s The Beggar Boy at Christ’s Christmas Tree inspires us always: “Christ always has a Christmas tree on this day, for the little children who have no tree of their own…”

Or, this Christmas quote by American minister and author Dr. Norman Vincent Peale who is famous for The Power of Positive Thinking brings poetic justice to a season of love: “Christmas waves a magic wand over the world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”

The following Christmas quote is attributed to American president John Calvin Coolidge Jr.: “Christmas is not a time or a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”

And here’s a Christmas quote by Charles Dickens for all travelers who read us: “Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days … us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!”

American short story writer Washington Irving reminds us that “Christmas is a season for kindling the fire for hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart.”

Phillips Brooks, famous for authoring the lyrics of the Christmas hymn, “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” once said: “The earth has grown old with its burden of care, but at Christmas it always is young, the heart of the jewel burns lustrous and fair, and its soul full of music breaks the air, when the song of angels is sung.”

“The sounds of happiness, the bright lights and the faint but delicious smells of Christmas cooking reminded him of past Christmas times when his wife had still been alive and his own children little,” ~ Leo Tolstoy, Papa Panov’s Special Christmas.

“The magi, as you know, were wise men–wonderfully wise men–who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving Christmas presents,” reminds us O Henri in The Gift Of The Magi, But he also tells us that those gifts were wise too.

We hope these beautiful Christmas quotes inspire your message of love, joy, and compassion this season too.
