Must See in Hong Kong this February: Chocolate Trail Mega Event at Harbour City Mall

Harbour City Shopping Mall hosts its annual mega event "Chocolate Trail" from 25th Jan - 25th Feb, 2018.

Harbour City Shopping Mall hosts its annual mega event “Chocolate Trail” from 25th January to 25th February. This year, the organizers have collaborated with Japanese Miniature Artist – Tatsuya Tanaka who has over 1 million followers on Instagram for hosting “mini CHOCOllection” Miniature Exhibition.


Harbour City also hosts an art exhibition titled The Sound of Chocolate, to feature vinyl records created by French artist Julia Drouhin. The records are, naturally, made of chocolate. For the first time, the event will host a chocolate tasting bar introducing nine all-new chocolate brands – with four already international award winners. With the purchase of a Chocolate Trail e-Pass visitors can choose their favourite treats out of no less than dessert creations on display at the “Chocolate Tasting Bar” as well as 16 other participating brands. A lineup of activities and attractions at the Chocolate Trail @ Harbour City Mall follows below:

Tatsuya Tanaka’s mini CHOCOllection Miniature Exhibition

Harbour City collaborates with famous Japanese Miniature Artist Tatsuya Tanaka, taking “mini CHOCOllection” as a theme to transform Atrium II, Gateway Arcade into a “Chocolate MINI Hong Kong”. Tatsuya Tanaka will display 32 miniature art pieces including 10 brand-new art pieces for the 32-day event. Art pieces include the theme of Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year’s Day, 7th Day of Chinese New Year (Renri) etc.

This is the first exhibition with a specific theme curated by Tatsuya Tanaka that includes Hong Kong elements such as, Dai Pai Dong, HK Old Tenements, and HK Style Food Truck. All of these art pieces are exclusive for this exhibition and won’t be found in other touring exhibitions. Free admission.

By donating HK$40, customers can become one of the miniature characters and take photos in the chocolate scene prepared by Tatsuya Tanaka in the CHOCOllection Studio. Photos will be printed on CHOCOllection Stickers instantly and will be shown in the Chocolate MINI Hong Kong exhibition.

Various types of premium would be also available in Tatsuya Tanaka Pop-up Store including puzzles, photography collections, and exclusive premiums. All proceeds will be donated to Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation after cost deduction. The mini CHOCOllection Miniature Exhibition is on display at Atrium II & Corridor, G/F, Gateway Arcade and can be seen daily until February 25th from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The Sound of Chocolate Art Exhibition

To harmonize with the Chocolate Trail, The Sound of Chocolate Art Exhibition presents records made of chocolate by French Australian artist Julia Drouhin. This is her first time to put traditional Cantonese pop songs into her art pieces. You can see the exhibition at the Gallery by the Harbour, Shop 207, Level 2, Ocean Centre

Chocolate Tasting Bar

At the Chocolate Tasting Bar located at 3/F, Gateway Arcade, chocolate connoisseur Katie Chan will introduce nine all-new chocolate brands, four of which have already won international awards: Fifth Dimension (England), Fuwan Chocolate (Taiwan), SOMA Chocolatemaker (Canada), Le Chocolat de H (Japan), Manoa Chocolate(Hawaii)winner at the Salon du Chocolat Award in Paris, Marijn Coertjens Chocolatier(Belgium), To’ak Chocolate(Ecuador)- made from the finest and rarest Ecuadorian heirloom cacao – the most luxurious bean to bar chocolate brand in the world, and Auro Chocolate(Philippine, Palet D’or(Japan).

With the “Chocolate Trail e-Pass” customers can choose their favourites from brands like Blesscuit Bakery, Frederic Blondeel, Gavottes, GODIVA Chocolatier, Häagen-Dazs, Hotel Chocolat, I CREMERiA, La Station, LE CAFÉ de Joël Robuchon, Leonidas Pralines, Luna Cake Premium, Paul Lafayet, The BonBonist, The Peninsula Boutique, Venchi, and zChocolat. Several chocolate pop-up stores participate in addition to existing chocolate shops like Agnès b.
