August Dance Festival 2012, A Lovely End of Summer in Tallinn

Celebrating various types of dancing from the Baltic region and beyond, August Dance Festival 2012 comes to end the summer in Tallinn, Estonia with ten lively evenings filled with international performing arts including dance, theatre and numerous related shows.  The event is set to take place from August 21 to August 31 mainly in Kanuti Gild Hall, Tallinn’s clearinghouse, but there will also be spectacles running all over the city.

Starting as a festival exclusively dedicated to dance in 1996, the August Dance Festival has taken on becoming not only the main event of its kind in Estonia, but also a worldwide affair known today as the International Performing Arts Festival. In addition to dance, guests will be delighted with a wide variety of acts involving sneaking, outmaneuvering or pressurizing, in order to prove that the dance, as well as other forms of art, doesn’t have boundaries, on the contrary it focuses on creative, vision and inspiration.

Revealing the latest trends in contemporary dance, the feast displays the work of first-rate choreographers and international top artists from US, Japan, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Holland and Finland. Furthermore, this cosmopolitan parade of artists participating in this 13th edition of the festival will be completed by local performers such as the talented group of street dance – Twisted Dance Company.

All in all, August Dance Festival 2012, also known as the largest and most famous dance festival in Estonia, has set the goal of surprising, inspire, entertain and thrill its visitors with a rich sequence of original dance spectacles.  Add to all these the delights of Tallinn, chosen as European Capital of Culture in 2012, and you can be sure you’ll be provided with an excellent cultural experience for this end of summer.
