THE THIEF, Oslo and Norway’s most talked about hotel, has no qualms about taking artistic license to the limit of reason. The latest bit of sensational news from Scandinavia’s hotel legend, Petter Stordalen, speaks of music legends, far out concepts, and art united with musicality. Coolest of cool bands Apparatjik, ventured off into hotel room land this time for an experiential hotel suite development.
For a comment on just how immersed THE THIEF is getting into digital and social, we spoke with THIEF Executive Officer Espen Karlsen, who commented;

THE THIEF, and the other Nordic Choice hotels were recently “untackified” when Stordalen “called it quits” on porn via room TV channels in favor of classy art. The this week THE THIEF unveils the Apparatjik Suite, a stay unlike anything anybody’s seen before. So now Oslo visitors can not only enjoy a high tech “experience”, but guests of the hotel can even sleep members of the band. Sort of.
Holographic imagery putting rock stars in between the sheets may be a tad funky for some THE THIEF guests, but surely enthusiasts of the old vinyl LPs can identify with a bit of “low tech” intertwined with social sphere ambiance and artsy and the avant-garde. Anyhow, today’s news shows at worst Nordic Choice knowing full well how to leverage publicity with the likes of Coldplay’s bass player Guy Berryman, a-ha member Magne Furuholmen, Mew-singer/guitarist Jonas Bjerre designing rooms. And at best clients of Nordic Choice get something nobody else has ever gotten – a truly one-of-a-kind experience to remember.
The Apparatjik suite, an eclectic montage of video, art, music, disco textiles and humorous installations too, mimcs the eye catching performances of the band itself. Enjoy the art and artistry of this fascinating group of performers.
