Amazing Greece and Travelers There Too

The other day I decided to use a favorite PR and publishing tool of ours, Help A Reporter Out (HARO) to gets some faves in Greece for our readers. As it turns out, even despite Greece’s economic woes, the love tourists feel for that place is stronger than ever. How can I know without a PhoCusWright study? The fastest and most enthusiastic HARO responses ever, that’s how.

By way of explanation here, we of course cover Greece and the rest of Eastern Europe from a photographic and news standpoint. Any publisher online knows the value of inquiries and pitches via HARO, so wondering how Greece is fairing beyond drab economic news and hyped PR, this sort of thing is a value for you, the would-be Greece visitor. Now that you know, let me shed light on some great people and places you’ll hear more about from HARO and Greece enthusiasts, some of the travel world’s best, as it turns out.

Ashley Bartner, owner of La Tavola Marche (Farm, Inn & Cooking School), graciously sent along many images of she and her family’s visit to the Peloponnese. As you can see from the landscape image of the region above, there’s nothing an editor loves more than a wonderful traveler who knows her cameras. The noted food and travel writer offered up this exploration of the Peloponnese, maybe the ruggedest and most beautiful region of Greece – Mycenae to the unspoken places, and of course the places that will always be remembered like Thermopylae, this place is really understated most of the time.

Colorful markets, orange trees, the rural lifestyles intermixed with urbanity renewed, I actually envy Ashley her most recent journey. But you’ll hear more of her adventure later on on Argo, and see more wonderful images like the one below too. William DeSousa-Mauk is a true gem. For anyone out there who publishes finding a journalist capable of authentic and alturistic love of travel will surely impress. Besides having been a globetrotter extraordinary, Bill is also President of DeMa Public Relations. I will just briefly show A share he offered me, the wonderful Nefeli Sunset Studios (image above) on Milos. Sorry to tease here but Bill, author for many travel publications, kindly agreed to write a stand along expose on this part of Greece for us. Lisa Mabe, of Hewar Social Communications, is another HARO good fairy of travel stories. Here begins and ends with a wonderful wedding to husband Yianni in Athens. The Washington, DC couple celebrated that auspicious occasion with friends and family stayed at the Margi Hotel, you can expect the full story on this upcoming as well. For the would be honeymooners out there though, what better memory than one like Lisa and Yianni will share through the decades? The image above is from a set of post marriage photos done by Vangelis Photography. There’s some wonderful photography and sense of Greece in this pictures, not to mention happiness.

Carey Driscoll, of Beach Bum Vacation simply offered some favorite spots to visit for anyone traveling to Greece. Those included; The Fountains/Pools @ Edessa, and of course the Caldera of the famous volcano Thera now called Santorini, and Cape Souno and the Temple of Poseidon (above from Fotolia)

Stella Metsovas, the world renown Mediterranean diet expert, will be the subject of an article by us dealing with her wonderful expertise. I have not contacted here super considerate PR peeps at MadisonPR, but will immediately after this report. For those unfamiliar, Stella is one of the world’s authorities on diet and health. We’ll be talking about one of my favorite topics, the olive oils and other ancient commodities from far back antiquity. Crete, I hope, will get some text and talk time here. Stay tuned.

Adrienne Dannunzio, of the SeaDream Yacht Club of Miami, offers an exclusive look at maybe the best way to see the Greek Islands. Sailing aboard SeaDream’s 56-stateroom twin yachts (SeaDream I and SeaDream II), just may be your cup of tea for this Spring or Summer. Heck, I know it is mine. Adrienne will be featured in another post about Greek Island hopping, but as you can envision looking at the image above, we may be publishing her account via laptop on board. Just watch the video if you have not. Ahhhhh.

Michaelene Cadiz, of Andaspain Walking Adventures will be featured for hiking in Greece. Typically focused on Spain,  Italy, and other points on the compass, Michaelene is itching to get back to Greece. Stay tuned for some fantastic images and places seen from the ground and afoot.

Dana Paskiewicz, of Northwest Passage, fancies an interview about the fascinating idea of Kayak adventuring Crete. The land of the Minoans has a lot more to offer than the Palace at Knossos and the world’s best olives. I wrote to answer Dana this morning to set up discussing what you can imagine from the image above. Crete is a seafaring place, after all. This one should be good, Dana was recently interviews for AFAR.

Did I forget anyone? I hope not, but as you can see we’ve hit pay dirt where showing you some new and fascinating stories of Greece are concerned. Publishers, you gotta love HARO.
