According to this report from EX-YU Aviation News, Air Serbia may also be negotiating with Etihad Regional to launch services to Belgrade next month, as well as potentially operating some flights to the Albanian capital Tirana. Even with these positive moves however, the Serbian carrier is facing a shortage of regional aircraft. CEO of B&H Airlines, Amir Jažić, had this to add:

“We are a very small market and we have to look for business elsewhere. This will be the case until a large company purchases B&H Airlines, which would be the best development for the company.”

Additionally,  B&H Airlines will commence charter operations to several cities in Italy including Pescara, Bari and Foggia. Also, Air Serbia has also taken delivery of its sixth and seventh Airbus A319 this week. The economic downturn has plagued regional airlines in the Balkans for some years now. Investors and other interested parties are ever anxious to see a consolidated and firm industry develop for these regions.

Airlines from Croatia to Montenegro and beyond have gone belly up like Dubrovnik Airline Limited and Jat Airways, leaving a vacuum for needed flights and carriers.
