Air India is rolling out a new kind of pricing scheme for a number of its domestic Indian flights as it bids to make jetting off into the sunset during the upcoming holiday season easy, comfortable and affordable.

“Date Range Fares”, which came into effect from April 20, offer discounts as much as 20% on some flights, and are being made available on a number of domestic routes.

Two different schemes have been made available, the D3 Scheme, which requires tickets are booked a minimum of three days ahead of travel, and the D5 scheme, which requires five days notice.

“We are aiming to increase air travel for domestic flights throughout the summer holidays,” said a spokesperson for Air India.

“We wish to provide domestic passengers with the most affordable prices while also offering exceptional customer service,” added the AI spokesperson.

The carrier fully expects travelers in the country, both local and foreign, to take advantage of the bonanza of cheap Indian domestic flights. “Our load factor for domestic passengers has gone up to 70.2% this year as opposed to 69.9% last year,” explained the spokesperson.

Tickets for Date Range Fares will be issued subject to seat availability at booking time. The scheme will cover 141 destinations across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, amongst others.
