Pano Platres – or simply Platres as the locals call it – is a “Greek village” full of charm on the southern slopes of the Troödos Mountains. And with a motto like “In Platres, the nightingales will not let you sleep,” the village can also pass as an ideal place to rekindle romance. Once a destination for oenophiles, the Cypriot mountainous community is also a choice for active travelers, who will find here the Sparti Platres Rope Adventure Park to keep in shape, among nature trails and other outdoor recreational opportunities, including the Platres Athletic Sports Center, which offers football courts, basketball and tennis fields, volleyball and handball facilities, a bicycle center, as well as fitness and Spa facilities.

Although growing grapes is no longer the favorite agricultural occupation of the locals, the wines from the region are still favored by connoisseurs. For example, the Lambouri Winery in Kato Platres has a tradition of over 300 years producing exclusive Cypriot wines. They offer winery and vineyard tours, Lambouri wine tastings and sales. Their wines are exclusively produced from local grape varieties.
