Minos Beach art hotel

On July 13th and 14th, the G & A Mamidakis Foundation welcomed Greek artists and producers to Crete for the second edition of the “blueFest Crete | Culture & Beyond”, a two-day festival dedicated to Greek art, culture, and gastronomy.

Held at the Minos Beach art hotel, the “blueFest Crete 19” event made strides to promote the work of Greek artists and strengthened the ties of tourism with culture and innovation, according to the hotel’s management. This 2nd event attracted a number of visitors to the resort’s unique architecture and open-air art gallery, which was the setting for the cultural festival.

The blueFest Crete festival kicked off on Saturday, July 13, with the opening of the “Come with the wind” exhibition, which featured an installation by artist Theodoros Zafeiropoulos and architect Giorgos Rimenidis.

Combining sculpture with sound, the installation referred to the “Tower of the Winds”, the ancient octagonal Pentelic marble clocktower located in the Roman Agora in Plaka, Athens.

Visitors also had the opportunity to attend the “Blue Nights” exhibition which featured video art projects by Alexandros Kaklamanos, James Lane and Theodoros Zafeiropoulos.

The “Blue Nights” exhibition and the open-air museum of Minos Beach will remain open for the public until the end of October.

The first day concluded with a live music performance by Greek composer Nikos Xinos – GTP

The “blueFest Crete” was launched in 2018, at the five-star Minos Beach art hotel in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, with the aim to link the rich cultural heritage of Greece with new and traditional forms of artistic expression.
